Getting a second opinion on dental prostheses

A second opinion is nothing unusual with dental prostheses. It often involves four-figure sums and a restoration that is meant to last ten years or more. No reputable practitioner takes that personally.

When it is worthwhile

With a large scope, with a high own share, when the plan has not been explained to you – or when there is a wide gap between „we can preserve that“ and „that has to come out“.

How it works

You take the treatment and cost plan with you and, if available, current X-rays. The second practice examines and judges independently. The statutory health insurers in part offer their own expert-review procedures for this – ask them about it.

What it costs

The examination is covered by health insurance. If a new plan is drawn up, that too can be invoiced. Compared with the sum at stake, it is little.
