Bridge loose, broken or leaky

If a bridge no longer sits firmly, the problem is usually one of the two abutments – decay under the crown or a loosened tooth. As long as the bridge still holds, one often notices nothing of it.

Why waiting gets expensive

Under a leaky bridge crown, decay carries on undisturbed. If it is found early, the abutment can be treated and the bridge remade. If it is found late, the abutment tooth is lost – and with it the whole restoration.

The veneer has chipped off

A piece of the tooth-coloured layer breaks off and the metal underneath becomes visible. Small areas can be repaired in the mouth, larger ones cannot. It is not an emergency, but an appointment is still sensible: sharp edges injure the tongue and cheek.
