The hardship rule: the entitlement too rarely asked about
Anyone receiving citizen's benefit, basic income support or social assistance is entitled to full coverage of the standard care. Beyond that there is an income limit that rises with each dependent in the household.
Less well known is the sliding hardship rule: if the income is just above the limit, your own share is capped. It is rarely offered unprompted.
The timing matters: hardship is applied for together with the treatment and cost plan, before the treatment begins. Afterwards it is difficult.
